According to a survey by Microsoft in Holland, Britain, Germany, Italy, and Denmark the lottery cheating is increasing and has become the fastest growing crime on the internet. It has been found that alone in Britain there are around sixty five percent emails are classified as lottery scams.

Around eighteen percent of those people who have received the scam emails have opened them and it is noticeable that ten percent of the people have also replied them. A total of twenty percent have also clicked on the links that is present in the emails and over the past year three percent of the people have lost their amount to these scammers.

Mr. Ed who is the Chief Security Advisor with Microsoft said that the online lottery scams have become one of the quickly increasing online crimes. It has also grown an International concern as it has become much easier for the criminals to take money on the internet.

In the beginning you receive an unwanted email which will tell you that you have won a lottery at international level. Further it is added that if you want to claim your prize you have to speak to the agent who will be heading your case. You are also instructed to keep your winning amount secret as per the security causes. Let us assume that you have replied the email then get ready to receive more emails and sometimes they will call you up. They will do all this just to show that they are genuine people.

This will be just the beginning as they will be further asking for your bank particulars, your personal details, passport details, or may be your driving license. If you provide the scammers with all your personal details they can easily relocate the winnings from your account. Do not provide your full personal details as your personal identity will be easily get stolen. The moment you have provided the scammers with your personal details their next move will be for asking to deposit some amount to cover the delivery cost and managing legal administration.

According to Microsoft the online scammers are very smart as they don’t make use of the technical factors and they make use of the social networking. This all goes to prove that they are not easy to catch and bring them to court.
